Repair Log: ACER E1-531G Laptop - Modernization and Optimization

I decided to keep a public repair log of the equipment I service in Kalisz. There has been a lot of it so far, which is why I regret not doing this from the beginning. However, I hope to catch up.

Final Result

The laptop got a second life! The difference is colossal:

Before:

• System boot: ~3-4 minutes
• Browser opening: ~30 seconds
• Constant disk “spinning”
• Battery doesn’t hold charge

After:

• System boot: ~25 seconds
• Browser opening: ~2 seconds
• Smooth work without lags
• 2-4 hours of battery life

Conclusions

This laptop is a perfect example that even older equipment can be brought back to life at a low cost. Replacing the HDD with an SSD is the best investment you can make in an older computer.

The modernization cost (560 PLN) is significantly lower than buying a new laptop, and the performance after the upgrade is sufficient for:

• Office work
• Browsing the internet
• Watching movies
• Light gaming
